Self-Storage Consumers’ Online Behavior

The number of customers renting self-storage online has been steadily increasing since 2010.  Today, as many as 50% of self-storage customers are acquired via the Internet.  This means that it is important for your self-storage business to have Internet exposure in order to take advantage of this large consumer base.

An important aspect of offering self-storage rentals online is being sure to provide the consumer with the information they are looking for to be comfortable completing a transaction.  Consumers want to know what they are buying before they spend money on something.  Therefore, it is important to provide the consumer with everything they need in order to complete the online rental.  Information about the particular unit they are renting is important, but there are other things that appeal to online consumers as well.  For instance, online rent payment offers the convenience of the Internet to the rent payment process for the consumer.
