I’m not a blogger. Just because I’m here writing, a, well, blog posting, don’t be confused! Or alarmed. Most people who know me know, that although I have spent much of my adult life writing, for a living, this blog thing is certainly an out-of-genre experience for me.
You see, I’m a lawyer (corporate, contracts, for large multinational companies, mostly) by trade, and what I write is usually quite – shall we say – dry. And by dry I don’t mean witty and clever, like Augusten Burroughs’ kind of Dry, but dry, as in, difficult to decipher, mind numbingly detailed and always brain involved. So! A breath of fresh air. My assignment: “write a blog.” “About what”? “something maybe storage related.” Another suggestion: “not, anything, remotely, about lawyerdom”. Check. This may be tricky, because my non-work related writing tends to be on the minimalist side. If there is an email that needs more than a sentence response from me, I consider that to be a total time suck. My favorite emails (you know, the incoming kind, I’m about a 90/10 ratio of Inbox to Outbox non-work related email kind of gal) are those that require no more than one of my 3 all time favorite replies: “sounds good”, “will do” or, the ever demonstrative, “okay”.
So here are things that I have thought of so far. Oh wait: first, I want to show you a video that my kids found over the weekend while they were – a-hem – doing their “homework:”
Do you think Marcel uses self-storage? Marcel might say: “Guess what I use to store my stuff?” Hmmm…. If Marcel uses a lentil for a hat, I think Marcel would use the shell of a sunflower seed for storage. This video made me laugh. I like laughing. Some people make fun of my laugh (it’s pretty loud, almost guttural at times). Which reminds me. We’ve had a quite a few laughs here at Storitz, about storage even. I didn’t realize there was so much fodder for comedy hidden behind those roll up doors. It’s going to be a fun ride. I think I may be on to a theme for my postings, after all. Until next time.
